The Malt Whisky Yearbook 2024

In the wide and daunting jungle of whisky literature – that is all the books, magazine, blogs, subscriptions, and even video content – there’s really only one definitive resource that every whisky lover should have a copy of on their whisky shelf:  The Malt Whisky Yearbook.   An annual publication that has been updated and released every year since 2005, the latest edition for 2024 is out now.

The Malt Whisky Yearbook 2024 is many wonderful things all rolled into one invaluable book:  Distillery profiles complete with an account of each distillery’s history and latest bottlings; maps; current industry sales and production statistics; tastings notes; over 500 photographs; production details; export figures; industry news and insights; listings of whisky shops and retailers around the world; listings of leading whisky websites and blogs; and some excellent feature articles by prominent whisky writers.  For the malt enthusiast, it offers up-to-date information on whisky distilleries from all over the world, with particular emphasis and detail on the malt distilleries of Scotland.

The Malt Whisky Yearbook is the work of Swedish whisky enthusiast, Ingvar Ronde.  As always, he’s assembled a stellar cast of writers to contribute feature articles including Neil Ridley, Ian Wisniewski, Andrew Derbidge, Joel Harrison, Johanne McInnis, and Kristiane Sherry.  And you’ll also get insights from industry luminaries such as Paul John, Alan Winchester, Sukhinder Singh, Brendan Buckley, and Jota Tanaka.  (All members of the Whisky Hall of Fame!)

The 2024 edition of the Malt Whisky Yearbook has a healthy Australian flavour in the content, with a feature piece on the current state of the Australian whisky industry; some thoughts and insights from Patrick Maguire (formerly of Sullivans Cove); and no less than eight pages of listings and details of Australian distilleries.

It’s more than just a good resource; it’s an entertaining read that is well written and presents itself with far greater personality than a mere factsheet.   Whisky and Wisdom endorses and commends the Malt Whisky Yearbook to any whisky enthusiast who wants to deepen their knowledge of whisky and their connection with the industry.   So how do you get yourself a copy?   It’s available through www.maltwhiskyyearbook.com for £15.95 plus shipping.  You can also pick up back copies of previous editions all the way back to 2009.

Cheers,
AD
