Personal data is only collected on this site if you do any of three things:
- Leave a comment under one of our blog articles
- Fill out our contact form to subscribe to Whisky & Wisdom
- If you purchase the bespoke Whisky & Wisdom Glenfarclas bottling.

Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. Visitor comments are checked through an automated, third party spam detection service (Akismet). If you are a registered WordPress user, an anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/.
Subscribe
When subscribing to Whisky & Wisdom, our contact form requires you to enter an email address, your first name, and your country of residence. (Your surname is also an optional entry). We use this information only to notify you via email when a new article / blog post has been uploaded to our site. Our subscription form is compliant with the recent GDPR requirements and you can unsubscribe at any time.
Purchasing whisky
Your personal data will be used to process your order only. All supplied sensitive/credit information is transmitted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology and then encrypted into our Payment Gateway provider’s database only. All transactions are processed by Stripe. After a transaction, your private information and credit card details will not be stored on our servers. Your information will not be sold, exchanged, transferred, or given to any other company for any reason whatsoever, without your consent, other than for the express purpose of delivering the purchased product.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
Analytics
Whisky & Wisdom uses Google Analytics to monitor and track the site’s users’ behaviour. Google’s privacy policy can be read here: https://www.google.com/analytics/terms/us.html
Who we share your data with
No one! The exception is our third party payment gateway provider (Stripe), as outlined above. You can read Stripe’s privacy policy here: https://stripe.com/gb/privacy
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. For users that register/subscribe to our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Terms, conditions, and delivery information for the Whisky & Wisdom Glenfarclas single cask bottling
(Note: As of March 2021, all available bottles have sold and this product is no longer available. The information below applied at time of sale)
- Liquor Act 2007: It is against the law to sell or supply to, or obtain on behalf of, a person under the age of 18 years. Whisky & Wisdom supports the responsible service of alcohol. The single cask bottling of Glenfarclas whisky is sold through Whisky and Wisdom Pty Ltd. License number: LIQP770010175
- Whisky and Wisdom Pty Ltd has an annual turnover not exceeding $75,000 and, accordingly, has not registered for the GST. All GST paid by Whisky & Wisdom (in sourcing the whisky, packaging and all shipping costs) has been absorbed and paid for, and GST is not being charged to the customer. Your purchase is GST free.
- Shipping is to Australian addresses only. We regret we cannot ship outside Australia.
- Each bottle is pre-packaged in a bespoke Glenfarclas wooden presentation box. This will be placed in an Australia Post-approved parcel box and filled generously with packing foam for shipping to Australian addresses. The pick-and-packing is undertaken at the bonded warehouse facility by a third party and NOT by Whisky & Wisdom.
- Shipping of all whisky sold is handled via a third party, namely Australia Post. Whisky & Wisdom accepts no responsibility for any loss, theft, or breakage that occurs after Australia Post collects the parcel from the bonded warehouse and we will not provide refunds or replacements in the event of such occurrences. Customers are encouraged to take out the optional insurance for their purchase (presented as an opt-in option during checkout) if this is a concern. We recommend you provide a delivery address where someone will be available to accept delivery.
- Receipt of your payment through our Stripe gateway typically takes at least two days. Your whisky will be despatched from the bonded warehouse within 2-3 days after these funds have cleared. Delivery is then 3-4 days to most addresses in NSW, ACT, VIC and QLD, and 7-10 days for WA, NT, and TAS. Earliest delivery times will thus be at least seven business days after you place your order online; longer if you’re in WA, NT, or rural addresses. Note that delivery takes longer in peak times such as the lead up to Christmas and over the holiday periods.
